Lastly, I applied the same teal colored leaf to the remaining areas. The previous layer was darkened by the varnish, so this layer created a slightly lighter tone, and finished the piece. Photographing metallics is always a bit tricky, but this is fairly close to the original. Depending on where you stand and where it's lit from, it changes the reflection of the foil, so it's like a piece of living artwork, changing each time you look at it.

 

 


And here is a shot of the computer mock up again, for comparison. As you can see... fairly close, the mock up shows more texture from my sample scans of the leaf, but otherwise I think the final image above comes nicely close to this digital sample shot.
