Mossy Creek, Wicklow
When I first arrived in Ireland I took a guided tour through Co. Wicklow and the Glendalough area. This was a lovely mossy stream on one of our walks.

Mary's Shrine at Glencree, Wicklow
Near the above stream was a shrine to the Virgin Mary, one of many that I saw around Ireland. This one was housed in a little stone shrine across the stream.

Round Tower at Glendalough, Wicklow
This is from the monastic ruins at Glendalough...the famous round tower! The door is some 12 feet up, and monks used to gain entrance by a ladder. When raiders came, the monks could spot them from the tall tower, and would hide inside and pull the ladder up so they were protected.

Monastic Settlement at Glendalough, Wicklow
Another shot of the tower from the other side, showing it with the two stone huts the monks lived and worked in.
