A wonderful full key red was used as a background for this detailed knotwork panel, again in the style of the Lindisfarne Gospels or the Book of Kells. The gold leaf in there with the red I think makes it look very royal or regal, and reminds me a bit of those carpets you see from the Orient. :-)
