The Vine and Chalice theme is very common in later Celtic artwork, particularly it can be seen in the old manuscripts like the Book of Kells. The chalice, which is said to denote the Holy Grail in later Christian manuscripts, is probably a holdover from early Celtic myths like the Cauldron of the Dagda, and the Cauldron of Cerridwen. These vessels in early mythology were used to restore health to the injured or even the dead, and as well to magically feed masses of people.
