I often like to look at books of old carpet patterns for ideas in color and design for my paintings. Here the pattern shows a Celtic influence, and the colors were from an Arabic manuscript page. I combined all that with some leaf work patterns to give texture to the broad red fields. The finished painting almost has a feeling of the Orient to it, which I guess makes this my most multi-cultural painting yet! ;-)
