This is the first painting in yet another series of ideas I've been wanting to work on for a while. This particular one is of the Holcombe Mirror, from the late La Tene era. The mirror image sits on a background of hazy spirals and swirls in dark umber and metallic gold shimmer. It's a very different style than what I've worked in so far, and I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out...I hope to do some companion pieces to it soon. This painting is also framed in a gold wood frame, without glass, which you don't see in the photo here, but which gives it a lovely gold edging outside of the spiral background.
