Based in Orange County, California, The Tinker's Own is a group of musicians who share a love for the traditional and contemporary folk music of Ireland, the British Isles, and North America. The band combines the voices of its singers with an eclectic mixture of instruments that includes dulcimers, recorders, harp, banjo, fiddle, percussion, and more. Combining creativity with a deep respect for tradition, the performers weave these diverse elements into unique arrangements that are at once familiar and surprising.
The Tinker's Own takes its name from the "Travelling People" of Ireland. The group was formed in late 1992, and performs frequently, including appearances at the UC Riverside Barn Folk Concert series, Shade Tree Stringed Instruments, The United Scottish Society's Highland Games, the Dana Point Tall Ships Festival, and "A Night in Fullerton".
