(John Bailey) I became interested in wood turning many years ago, while looking for a contrast to the programming career I was following at the time. Being self taught, I have developed my own style and working technique over the years.
I specialize in simple forms that show the beauty of the wood, with gentle curves and uncluttered shapes. I sand the shaped wood using up to 400 grit abrasive disks, which give an incredibly smooth surface Most of my work is
oil finished, with a little wax to bring out the depth of the grain and a subtle shine.
My work has been well received by the public, and is in collections across Europe and Canada. I sell my wares mostly at craft fairs in and around London, including the Richmond Fellowship Christmas sale, and have a few of my pieces displayed locally. I occasionally take on commissioned works for more specialized, or unusual pieces. To see more examples of my work, please come by my web page.
