I had to do some real brainstorming on this piece, to figure out how to get the acrylic to stick to the marble! Finally, I found the best way was to lay down a coat of acrylic that covered the whole surface of the marble, and then I traced down my design. Then, with a couple of fine blades, I scraped away the acrylic that didn't belong, to reveal the dragon and the rest of the designs. The painting is actually supposed to be hung as a diamond, rather than a square, and the four points read "North, South, East and West" in Japanese.
